The Vice Provost Teaching & Learning will assist the Provost in the oversight and advancement of teaching and learning strategies that support the achievement of the University’s Student Learning Outcomes (SLO’s), the professional learning and development of faculty, and ongoing research into teaching and learning in higher education. His/her role will include providing inspirational and visionary leadership for innovative teaching/learning. To be successful in this role, s/he will possess the commitment, personal characteristics, insights and abilities, not only of a master teacher, but also those of an effective administrator, organizational leader and representative of the University’s mission both internally and externally.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in leadership and supervision as well as administrative interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrating superior abilities in planning, prioritizing, and decision-making with an academic setting, the candidate must also be able to demonstrate the ability to be mission-focused yet flexible and to work diligently and effectively under financial, time and schedule pressures within a collegial setting.
Preferred candidates will hold an earned doctorate (or equivalent), have an outstanding record of teaching at the post-secondary level, and at least five years of teaching/learning administrative experience. Candidates must possess the ability to meet criteria for tenure and promotion with at the Associate professor level or above.
